OUR FIRST LIFE MEMBER

  Maurice VK7ZMR

David VK7EX presents Maurice VK7ZMR with the life membership certificate.

From the President’s Desk of the Cradle Coast Amateur Radio Club Inc,
Tuesday the 9
th of August.

Today, myself, David, VK7EX and Keith, VK7KW made the trip to Sheffield here in Tasmania to visit Maurice, VK7ZMR.

The visit had two main reasons apart from it is always nice to catch up with fellow amateurs that you have not seen for some time.

Reason one,

About mid last year Maurice, VK7ZMR requested a meeting with me during one of his trips into Devonport for medical purposes and during that meeting I was informed by Maurice that he had bequeathed his entire Amateur Radio equipment to the Cradle Coast Amateur Radio Club for the club to use at our discretion for the benefit of all North West and West Coast Amateurs. Towers, Antennas, several Radios and lots of sundry items and the actual Radio Shack as well, which is a very nice Ex Hydro engineers site office with many benches, cupboards and even a stainless sink with wall mounted hot water (transportable by truck), approximate weight 4 ton empty.

There are a number of items that Maurice’s XYL would like us to remove very soon. The aluminium radio Phone skeleton dish antenna approximately 10 feet in diameter with all fittings, it does unbolt for easy transport. I think Maurice turned down his hearing devices during that part of the conversation.

After the first meeting I had with Maurice I informed our members at the following general meeting of his generous gift and at that meeting it was suggested we show our appreciation to Maurice in some form.

Reason Two,

We did that today when Keith and myself met with Maurice and his wife Margaret. We asked Maurice if he would do us the honour of accepting Life Membership to our club. We would like to inform all amateurs that Maurice is now our first Life Member, we presented Maurice with our club Life Membership Certificate

I would like thanking Maurice for his very generous thoughts and donation to foster the hobby of amateur radio on the North West Coast.

Yours in this wonderful hobby,

David, VK7EX.
